The System Development Methodology consists of six phases that create the framework for development, testing and implementation.  During this cycle, business requirements are defined; functional and technical design specifications, as well as the implementation approach, are established; program specifications are defined; programs are developed and unit tested; operating procedures, user and systems manuals, as well as conversion process and training materials are developed; and system and user acceptance testings are conducted – all culminating in the delivery of a fully operational system.
